BEAUFORT COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...  
MAINLAND HYDE COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...  
TYRRELL COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...  
WASHINGTON COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...  
 
* UNTIL 415 PM EDT  
 
* AT 340 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A  
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO NEAR  
YEATESVILLE...OR 15 MILES EAST OF RIVER ROAD...MOVING NORTHEAST AT  
40 MPH.  
 
* THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...  
PUNGO BY 350 PM EDT...  
PIKE ROAD...6 MILES NORTHWEST OF LEECHVILLE AND 7 MILES SOUTHEAST  
OF WENONA BY 355 PM EDT...  
PONZER BY 400 PM EDT...  
PUNGO LAKE BY 405 PM EDT...  
6 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CENTER OF PHELPS LAKE BY 410 PM EDT...  
6 MILES NORTHWEST OF ALLIGATOR LAKE BY 415 PM EDT...  
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  
 
WHEN A TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED BASED ON DOPPLER RADAR...IT MEANS  
THAT STRONG ROTATION HAS BEEN DETECTED IN THE STORM. A TORNADO MAY  
ALREADY BE ON THE GROUND...OR IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP SHORTLY. IF YOU  
ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS DANGEROUS STORM...MOVE INDOORS AND TO THE  
LOWEST LEVEL OF THE BUILDING. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. IF DRIVING...DO  
NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER A HIGHWAY OVERPASS.  
 
THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A  
WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. IF NO BASEMENT IS  
AVAILABLE...SEEK SHELTER ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF THE BUILDING IN AN  
INTERIOR HALLWAY OR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET. USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO  
COVER YOUR BODY AND ALWAYS STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.  
 
IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A  
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE  
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.  
 
PLEASE REPORT SEVERE WEATHER TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BY  
CALLING...1...8 0 0...8 8 9...6 8 8 9 OR NOTIFY YOUR LOCAL LAW  
ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.
